Implants

Implants offer a permanent solution for replacing missing teeth for those patients who are suitable candidates for this treatment.  A dental implant is a replacement tooth “root” constructed of medical grade titanium and is placed by an oral surgeon.  After a certain amount of healing time, we’ll have you come back to our office  Dental implants are extremely stable, strong and natural looking.  For more information on implants, please visit:  http://www1.nobelbiocare.com/en/splash/

Post Implant Care

Although proper oral hygiene is always recommended for maintaining good dental health, it is especially important when a patient has received a dental implant. Bacteria can attack sensitive areas in the mouth when teeth and gums are not properly cleaned, thus causing gums to swell and jaw bones to gradually recede. Recession of the jawbone will weaken implants and eventually make it necessary for the implant to be removed. Patients are advised to visit their dentists at least twice a year to ensure the health of their teeth and implants. Dental implants can last for decades when given proper care.

Periodontics

Over 75% of Americans age 35 and over have some form of gum disease, a result of poor dental hygiene and the subsequent build-up of plaque. In its earliest stage, your gums might swell and bleed easily. At its worst, you might lose your teeth.  The good news is that gum disease is preventable in most cases. Attention to everyday oral hygiene (brushing and flossing), coupled with professional cleanings twice a year, could be all that’s needed to prevent and actually reverse the early stage of gum disease. If you have gum disease, Dr. Randol will identify it during your exam and recommend the best treatment for the level of severity.

Endodontics

Endodontics deals with diseases of the tissue, blood vessels, and nerves inside the tooth. The most common endodontic treatment is called a “root canal,” a procedure used to remove infected tissue and refill the nerve canal inside the tooth. A root canal allows you to retain your natural tooth while eliminating the infection.

Dental Sealants

Thanks to fluoride, dental sealants and better dental habits, fewer school-age children than ever before are being diagnosed with cavities. Dr. Randol provides quality, effective dental sealants for your children’s teeth that will protect them from the normal causes of cavities.

Porcelain Veneers

Veneers are plates of porcelain that are bonded on the front surface of the anterior teeth. Although they are very thin, veneers become very strong once bonded to the tooth. Porcelain veneers are an excellent choice for covering cracked, chipped, or discolored teeth. Because of their natural appearance, porcelain veneers can make a very pleasing improvement to your smile. Veneers have advantages over other treatments – often, little or no anesthesia is required for the procedure and little or no tooth structure needs to be removed.  A veneer application can be completed in only two office visits.  For more information on porcelain veneers, please visit:  http://www.ivoclarvivadent.com/empress/patient_home.php

Full and Partial Dentures

Dentures can take the place of missing natural teeth. Dentures allow patients to chew and speak more easily while improving their appearance and boosting self-confidence. Full dentures are used when all of a patient’s teeth need to be replaced. Partial dentures are used when only a few teeth are missing. In either case, dentures can help you look and feel your best. Ask Dr. Randol about metal-free flexible partials.

Crowns & Bridges

A crown is a prosthetic tooth that is used to restore teeth where the structure is too weakened or damaged to accept amalgam or dental composite fillings. Dental technology has come a long way to improve the look of crowns and the convenience.  A porcelain crown can be done in a single office visit.  By using all porcelain material we are able to eliminate the dark edges at the gum line that were once visible with the old style crowns.   Given proper care, your crowns can last a lifetime.

A bridge is a dental device that fills a space where a tooth previously occupied.  Compared to the old style bridges, these works of art are exceptionally well fitting and very natural looking.

A bridge may be necessary to prevent:

* Shifting of the teeth that can lead to bite problems (occlusion) and/or jaw problems and resultant periodontal disease.
* Bridges safeguard the integrity of existing teeth and help maintain a healthy, vibrant smile.

Composite Bonding

A less expensive and less invasive remedy than crowns or veneers, composite bonding is an effective technique used to improve the appearance of your teeth. Bonding is ideal for masking teeth that are chipped, cracked, stained or injured teeth or reducing gaps between teeth.  During the procedure, a delicate layer of plastic is painted onto the damaged teeth, adding strength and making them virtually indistinguishable from natural teeth.

Composite bonding is a quick process, typically lasting less than an hour. Compared to veneers or crowns, it is a popular choice because it does not reduce the tooth’s original structure.  And finally, composite resins are available in many different shades. The shade can be chosen to match the natural color of the original tooth.

Composite bonds stain more easily and therefore require proper care and regular cleaning. In order to ensure the longest possible duration of the bonding, composites should be brushed and flossed daily. Common staining elements include coffee, tea, tobacco, foods and candy.

Teeth Whitening

Your teeth will darken over a period of time. Changes in the color of your teeth can be caused by such factors as the food and beverages you consume.  Other known factors for discoloration may include childhood medications or illnesses, tobacco use or improper oral hygiene.

Tooth whitening services are growing in popularity, and it’s one of the most requested services offered by our practice. Everyone sees the growing consumer market focused on whiter teeth. The reality is that over-the- counter, “too good to be true” solutions typically don’t work or only work for a short time.

At Home Bleaching:
We are able to provide the bleaching trays to be used at home, (we construct custom fit bleaching trays) and you are able to determine the time and place to bleach.

Mouth Guards/Night Guards

Mouth guards are often used to protect teeth from injury due to sports. The guard usually covers the upper teeth; however, if you wear braces or another fixed dental appliance on the lower jaw, Dr. Randol may suggest a mouth protector for these teeth, as well.  Night guards are worn to protect the teeth from clenching and grinding while you sleep.  They can also help people who suffer from TMJ or clicking in the jaw area and alleviate tension headaches or neck pain.  Both mouth guards and night guards are custom-made, to your mouth, to provide a comfortable fit.

Invisalign

Invisalign is a breakthrough in technology that lets you straighten your teeth with a series of clear, virtually invisible custom-molded aligners. The course of treatment involves changing aligners approximately every two weeks until you have a more beautiful smile.  An average Invisalign course of treatment takes about a year, although the total number of clear aligners is specific to you, determined by your doctor.

Unlike braces, these clear aligners can be removed while you eat and you can brush your teeth as usual.  Dental cleanings are also quicker and easier than with traditional orthodontics.

If you are interested in or have questions regarding Invisalign, just give our office a call and one of our highly trained staff members can assist you.
